This award will be conferred at the annual conference of the DGS <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in June 2021. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The DGS Distinguished Service award was created to recognize one individual each year for<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">extraordinary service to the digital government scholarly community. Areas of service could <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">include, but are not limited to: service to the Digital Government Society and\/or other <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">scholarly societies; conference organization; representation of DGS in other organizations, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">including academic, government and community organizations; or influential service to a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">government agency, resulting in positive effects on the field of digital government.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nominators should submit the following nominating information:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Candidate\u2019s Name <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(first, middle initial, last), <\/span><b>Contact Information <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(including email <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">address), and Affiliation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>A letter of nomination <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the nominator providing the following information:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Record of Service: List up to five principal positions of service to DGS or the \u00a0digital government community, and briefly describe the primary responsibilities \u00a0for each position.<\/li>\n<li>Other relevant information: additional information related to the service \u00a0contributions of the candidate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>At least one other letter of reference <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">endorsing the nomination and providing <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">information regarding the service contributions of the nominee.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Proposed Citation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: to appear on the award certificate &#8212; citation should begin &#8220;For <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contributions to the field of digital government through sustained service &#8230;&#8221; followed <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by a phrase of not more than 20 carefully edited words that reflect this candidate&#8217;s <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demonstrated service to the community<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nominators may submit one nomination; both nominators and nominees must be DGS <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">members. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The nomination deadline is March 29, 2021.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please submit your nomination materials by <strong>March 29, 2021<\/strong> to DGS Awards Committee Chair <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"mailto:tharrison@albany.edu\">Teresa Harrison<\/a>, tharrison at albany.edu<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Digital Government Society seeks nominations for candidates for the DGS 2021 Distinguished Service Award.
