Grants may be used for travel and accommodation. In addition, awardees will have their conference registration fee, which includes participation in all sessions and all meals, waived.<\/span>\n<span style=\"font-size:medium;\">To be eligible for a DGS travel grant, you must:<\/span><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><span style=\"color: #6b7489;\">\u25cf<\/span> Have a paper accepted at dg.o 2026.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><span style=\"color: #6b7489;\">\u25cf<\/span> Submit itemized receipts for all expenses and your attendance badge as proof of attendance. DGS will not cover expenses submitted without an itemized receipt that includes all of the following information:<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><code>&nbsp; \u25cb<\/code>&nbsp;The name of the business.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><code>&nbsp; \u25cb<\/code>&nbsp;The date when the purchase was made.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><code>&nbsp; \u25cb<\/code>&nbsp;The items purchased.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><code>&nbsp; \u25cb<\/code>&nbsp;The price of each individual item.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><code>&nbsp; \u25cb<\/code>&nbsp;The total amount of the bill.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><code>&nbsp; \u25cb<\/code>&nbsp;The method of payment<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><span style=\"color: #6b7489;\">\u25cf<\/span> Complete a <a href = \"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/pub\/irs-pdf\/fw8ben.pdf\"> W-8 BEN <\/a> and return it to DGS. This grant money is reportable income and treated as non-employment compensation by the IRS. To accept a travel grant, you must complete and return a W-8 BEN to DGS.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><span style=\"color: #6b7489;\">\u25cf<\/span> Commit to:<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><code>&nbsp; \u25cb<\/code>&nbsp;Participate in the whole conference.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><code>&nbsp; \u25cb<\/code>&nbsp;Write a short blog\/piece for the DGS website about the conference and the accepted paper.<\/p><\/span><span style=\"font-size:medium;\">If you are a PhD student or a scholar working in one medium or low HDI country adjusted for inequality (see <a href=\"https:\/\/dgsociety.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/HDI_Index_21-22_Statistical_Annex_HDI_Table-V3-Final.pdf\"> PDF for further reference <\/a>) and would like to apply for this scheme, please fill in the below form.<\/span><p style=\"font-size: medium;\">Deadline for application is <strong>April 8, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\">Decisions will be communicated to applicants by <strong>April 18, 2026<\/strong>.<\/span><span style=\"font-size:medium;\">Digital Government Society will weigh all applications against three criteria before deciding upon offers of travel grants. These criteria are:<\/span><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\">\n  <span style=\"color: #6b7489;\"><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><span style=\"color: #6b7489;\">1.<\/span> That the applicant\u2019s current (= at the time of applying) institutional affiliation is in a medium or low HDI country adjusted for inequality.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><span style=\"color: #6b7489;\">2.<\/span>\tThat the applicant clearly states his\/her needs of the funds and how they will be used.<\/p><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size:medium;\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><span style=\"color: #6b7489;\">3.<\/span>\tThat the applicant\u2019s paper addresses an important topic for the conference (e.g. a key topic of significance for digital government that is novel or under-researched, or a novel or innovative methodological approach).<\/p><\/span><span style=\"font-size:medium;\">Digital Government Society will balance these criteria in their deliberations and will act as a decision-making forum in its own right.
